The Studio
Patina Design Studio is a Sydney interior architecture studio specialising in substantial residential projects, complete furnishing and independent design reviews.
Led by founder and principal Jacqui Hurwitz, the studio examines how the interior will work at every scale, from the relationship between rooms to joinery, lighting, material transitions and furniture placement. Plans are not treated as fixed simply because they have already been drawn.
Early involvement allows Patina Design Studio to strengthen the planning and coordinate the decisions that will shape the completed home before approvals, documentation, budgets or construction limit the opportunity for change. The same interior direction is then carried through the project rather than being divided between separate stages and contributors.
Services are structured around the decisions that need to be made, the stage at which those decisions can still be influenced and the level of continuity required to protect the final outcome.
Full Service Design
Substantial renovations and new builds are shaped from early planning through to handover, with spatial planning, documentation, site decisions, furnishing, installation and final placement developed with cohesive direction. The project feels connected from the larger planning decisions through to the final pieces.
Furnishing & Procurement
Furniture, lighting, rugs, artwork and custom pieces are planned, selected, procured and installed in relation to the architecture, room proportions and the way each area is used. The furnished areas feel settled, comfortable, well scaled and ready to live in from installation.
Pre-Purchase Design Review
Before a property is purchased, Patina Design Studio assesses whether its layout, light, storage, proportions and renovation potential can support the buyer’s requirements. The review looks beyond presentation to identify both opportunity and limitation before commitment.
Layout Assessment
An existing floor plan may satisfy approvals or construction requirements without fully supporting the people who will live there. Patina Design Studio independently reviews flow, room relationships, furniture planning, storage and daily use before the plan is relied on.
Design Positioning Strategy
Properties being renovated, built or developed for sale need design decisions shaped around the intended buyer rather than broad assumptions about the market. The focus is on layout, finishes, furnishing direction and presentation choices that support buyer appeal and perceived value. The same approach may also be applied to selected rental developments where the intended tenant materially affects the design direction.
