This stage identifies what has already been decided, what should be questioned and where interior design input can materially improve the outcome. The Design Consultation establishes the required level of involvement, timing and next steps.
Define
Establish the spatial and functional direction before detailed design begins.
The brief, room relationships, layout priorities, furniture requirements, consultant input and scope are defined together. This gives later design, documentation, pricing and programme a stronger foundation.
Design
Develop every interior decision in relation to the home as a whole.
Planning, interior architecture, joinery, lighting, materiality, fixtures, furniture and specifications are tested against one connected direction, then developed into coordinated information for pricing, construction and procurement.
Deliver
Protect the interior direction as drawings become construction, orders and final placement.
Patina Design Studio reviews details, responds to site conditions and coordinates the decisions that arise during construction, procurement and installation so the completed home retains the intent established earlier.

The four client-facing stages are supported by a more detailed sequence of work. Scope and timing are confirmed once the property, brief, consultant team, procurement requirements and construction programme are understood.

Paid consultation to review the property, plans, objectives, priorities and constraints, and determine the most appropriate path forward.
Define
02 Indicative timing: 2–3 Weeks Briefing, Concept & Schematic
Establishing the brief, spatial direction, functionality and room relationships that will guide the next stage of design.
03 Indicative timing: 1–3 Days Project Team Site Visit & Introductions
Aligning the relevant project team early so direction, scope and responsibilities are clear before the project progresses.
Design
04 Indicative timing: 6–12 Weeks Design Development
Developing the floor plan, material palette, joinery, lighting, fixtures, furnishings and overall design direction in relation to the project as a whole.
05 Indicative timing: 4–8 Weeks Documentation Package
Preparing detailed documentation and specifications to support pricing, coordination and construction.
06 Indicative timing: 6–9 Weeks Tender & Estimation
Reviewing documentation with builders and trades to align scope, pricing and construction requirements before commencement.
Deliver
07 Indicative timing: Ongoing Design Management During Construction
Reviewing details on site and coordinating with builders and trades to help the design be executed as intended.
08 Indicative timing: 1–2 Weeks Installation & Client Handover
Coordinating furniture installation, final placement, styling and handover.
09 Indicative timing: Post-construction Post Construction Follow-up
Assisting with final reviews, defect identification and coordination following project completion.
